The Importance of Being Regular, Regularly Posting to Your Blog.

by rangersanger

Schedule your posts regularly. I’m sure that if you like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter, you have found that we aren’t so good at sending out regular tweets or status updates. We are not following our own advice and as I’m writing this I’m resolving to do so. But, we do update our blog regularly. And that is important.

Legumes such as soybeans contain dietary fibers... get the joke?

In order to have a successful site, you must schedule regularly. First, define what regular is for you. Is it daily? Every Tuesday and Thursday? Once a week? Avoid the look of abandonment. Writing in bursts of 12 posts every three months is futile. One post every week for three months is not. It’s regular, it shows commitment and shows that your blog might be worth following. It’s also the same amount of writing as that 12 post burst. Scheduling all those posts over time signals that you keep up with your blog.

Defining your regular is as simple as deciding how much output you can commit to. Can you write daily? I’ll tell you right now, its fairly time consuming, but not at all impossible. Weekly? Anyone can do that. That’s 4 posts a month.  Small Business owners aren’t exactly flush with time, choose what works best for you and stick with it. Of course, make adjustments as needed, but be transparent! If it’s too much, just let everyone know that you will be scaling back. In fact, that can count as a post!

If you’re having trouble coming up with content, have your web designer put a form on your website for people to ask you questions and answer the good ones publicly. If you don’t have a web designer but know enough html to make a basic page, use wufoo.com. Wufoo allows you to visually compose a form and you can set it to email you the results. Also check out our post from last week with tips for coming up with new content.

If you haven’t already read it and need to know how to schedule social media updates, check out the post from yesterday.
